CASA's Coronavirus/COVID-19 Response

The Coronavirus / COVID-19 and its potential impact to youth in foster care, our volunteers, and our staff is of great concern to us and we are closely monitoring the situation both locally and nationally. We are in close and regular communication with court and county officials in San Bernardino County to provide you with information as we receive it.

As the situation continues to develop, we will update this page with information that affects our volunteers, our operations, and, most important, our youth.

  • Youth and CASA Volunteers

Dependency Court has resumed court hearings, however children and youth are encouraged not to attend for heir safety. We have asked CASAs and staff to refrain from court hearings, in-person visits with children, and other in-person meetings until further notice. Our CASA volunteers have stayed conned to their youth and have explained why they are unable to meet in person at this time.
We are prioritizing good communication and maintaining connections. In lieu of in-person visits, we encourage CASAs to be creative in finding new ways to stay connected with their appointed youth and to participate in essential meetings virtually when possible.
CASAs will continue to advocate, mentor, and support their youth during this time to ensure that their needs continue to be met and their voices heard. CASAs will continue to complete their time logs, write and submit curt reports, and connect with their appointed youth and Advocate Supervisors.

Resources

During this time in need our youth need you support

For the safety of the community, we canceled have cancelled all annual signature signature fundraising events, the 13th Annual Heart of a Hero Run, The Munchin Gala, and the Golf Classic.  These events not only generated over $80,000, but it also served as a platform to recruit new volunteers, spread awareness, and grow our supporters.  Although we are unable to host our signature events, we are reaching out to you to continue to support CASA through a monthly donation of $5 or more, starting your own Facebook fundraiser, and or helping us reach new volunteers.  We have launched  a virtual campaign to help us raise the funds we are unable to raise through our events.  Please join us by clicking on the DONATE button below.

Thank you,
